Student Symposium Paper Competition

The Student Symposium provides an opportunity to engage with other ASCE student chapters and ASCE leadership. Besides the business meeting, the Student Paper Competition is an essential part of the symposium. It emphasizes the importance of staying abreast of contemporary issues and developing an ability to communicate and present ideas effectively.

The topic for this year’s paper competition is: Infrastructure challenges: towards sustainable city development in changing climate — taking (your city) as an example.

The paper shall discuss climate change impact on the sustainable development of city infrastructure. Taking your city as an example, what technologies have been or need to be developed to solve these challenges. Papers for the competition shall (a) be limited to one paper from each Student Chapter; (b) not exceed 2000 words in English; Figures, tables and references can be included; (c) be written by one or a group of student members; (d) be orally presented in the Student Symposium (8 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for Q&A). Awards will be given to top performers as judged by panel members.
We look forward to your participation in 2023 ASCE Greater China Student Symposium in Harbin!
