Home to one of the top 20 engineering schools in the nation, the University of Maryland (UMD) is a hub for innovation and research. Nearly 40,000 students are currently enrolled at UMD and 6,000 of these individuals study within the A. James Clark School of Engineering.
One of the draws to UMD is its proximity to Washington D.C. With less than 15 miles separating College Park, MD from the National Mall, D.C. is only a metro ride away. And, with the new Purple Line project, traveling downtown will be easier than ever before.
The ASCE UMD chapter is a large community of students studying civil engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and more. Members can commonly be found in the lounge completing work or eating their lunch. There are also a number of events hosted by the chapter each year including company information sessions, the Suit Up & Be Civil networking event, and the kickball tournament against the UMD chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
