Our student chapter is also partnered with the American General Contractors (AGC) chapter. Our chapter aims to foster the development of a professional consciousness, grow a spirit of congeniality among members, and the opportunity for student members to expand their network in the engineering profession.<\/p>\n

Our chapter achieves these objectives by several notable events and activities. One of the Chapter\u2019s most notable activities are the weekly Friday Technical Presentations. Invited companies present about a project they worked on, or a unique method or practice of work they implemented. Mines ASCE-hosted networking events are another notable Chapter activity. Dinners and social gatherings prior to the Mines Career Fair provide the opportunity to connect with recruiters in a social setting and a chance to connect with more professionals. Among other semester activities, the Chapter also participates in several local volunteer events. This includes, but is not limited to, Celebration of Mines\/Preview Mines, Future City Colorado, Webelos, Girls and Science Night, and Girls Lead the Way. The Chapter also organizes yearly social events, including Welcome Back barbeques, a golf or bowling event, concrete hearts (for Valentine\u2019s Day), and site tours.<\/p>\n

The Mines ASCE Chapter is proud to support an amazing body of student members. The Chapter is consistently a top performer, with recent accolades including the 2017 Certificate of Commendation and 2018 Letter of Honorable Mention. The Committee on Student Members also selected the Chapter to receive a Letter of Honorable Mention for its outstanding activities recorded in the 2019 ASCE Annual Report. The 2017 ASCE Society Wide Concrete Canoe Competition was also hosted by the Mines ASCE Chapter. The Chapter hopes to continue our outreach efforts to help educate and inspire the next generation of Civil Engineers.<\/p>\n
