For the Professional Paper competition, we will follow the rules for ASCE’s Daniel W. Mead Prize for Students. The topic and rules can be found here:

Note that the Professional Paper competition at the Southeast Student Symposium will be run independently of the Daniel W. Mead Prize for Students at the national level. If you wish to also participate in the national competition, follow the nomination and submission guidelines at the link above.
Both undergraduate and graduate students may participate in this competition.
The competition will include an in-person oral presentation at the 2023 symposium. The author of the paper will have up to, but no more than, 5 minutes to present. The oral presentation will count 10 points, and the submitted written paper will count 90 points towards the overall 100 points for the competition. Presenters should be prepared to take questions from the judges after their presentations.

March 2, 2023 at 12:27 pmYou are not required to bring hard copies of your paper. The judges will review your virtually submitted paper before the Symposium, and you are just required to prepare a brief presentation.
